Privacy Policy - Brethreign

Brethreign ("we", "us") is a faith community where people share testimonies, prayer requests and encouragement. This policy covers the website at brethreign.com and the Brethreign apps for iPhone and Android. We keep what we collect to what the community needs to work, we never sell your data, and we don't show ads.

What we collect

Information you give us

Account details: your email address, username and password (stored only as a secure hash). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and Google account ID from Google.
Profile: anything you choose to add, such as a photo, bio, location and faith background. Your faith background reveals religious beliefs, so share only what you're comfortable with. Every profile field except your username is optional.
What you share: breaths (posts), comments, reactions, reposts, bookmarks, voice notes, images, prayer requests, Prayer Circle posts, reading-plan progress and game scores.
Messages: direct messages and voice notes you send to other members. Messages are stored on our servers so they can be delivered. They are not end-to-end encrypted.
Reports: when you report content or block someone, we keep a record so we can act on it.

Information collected automatically

Activity: when you were last active, which helps show who is around and keeps your session working.
Device and log data: your IP address, browser or app version and the pages you request, kept in server logs for security and troubleshooting.
Cookies: we use cookies only to keep you signed in and remember your settings, such as dark mode. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
Notifications: if you turn on push notifications, we store the token your browser or phone gives us so we can deliver them.

How we use it

To run the community: show your posts, deliver messages and send the notifications and emails you choose.
To keep the community safe: we review reported content, and new posts and comments may be checked by an automated moderation system before or after they appear.
To power features such as Bible games, scripture suggestions and the weekly digest email (which you can turn off).
To secure the service, prevent abuse and fix problems.

Who we share it with

Other members see what you post publicly and your public profile. Your direct messages are visible only to the people in the conversation, though our moderators may review messages that are reported to us. Beyond that, we share data only with service providers that help us run Brethreign, and only what each one needs:

Hosting and security: our servers and database, and Cloudflare, which protects and speeds up the site.
Media storage: Cloudinary stores the photos, images and voice notes you upload.
Email: an email delivery provider sends account and notification emails.
AI services: to help moderate content and to generate Bible game questions, the text of posts and comments may be sent to an AI provider (Google Gemini, OpenAI or Anthropic). These providers process it to return a result and do not use it to build public profiles of you.
Sign-in and notifications: Google, if you use Google sign-in; and Apple, Google or your browser's push service to deliver notifications.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete your account, your profile, posts, comments, messages, uploads and other content are deleted from our live systems straight away. Copies may remain in backups for a limited time before they are overwritten. Server logs are kept for a short period for security.

Your choices and rights

Edit your profile and account details at any time in Settings.
Control notifications and the weekly digest in Settings → Notifications.
Delete your account yourself in Settings → Account → Delete Account, on the website or in the app.
Ask for a copy of your data, or ask any question about it, by emailing us at the address below.

Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, such as objecting to certain processing or complaining to a data protection authority. Contact us and we will help.

Children

Brethreign is not for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, please contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), store passwords only as secure hashes, and limit who can access personal data. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes, we will let you know in the app or by email before they take effect. The date at the top shows when this policy last changed.
